Stress and Hair Loss

There are many different reasons for the occurrence of hair loss.

Although it can sometimes be blamed on genetics or ageing, stress is often the ultimate cause.

Stress can create a negative impact on many aspects of your life - including your hair.

Once you realize that stress is the cause of your hair loss, decisions should be made about your lifestyle and what needs changing in it to relieve yourself from this stress and the effect it has on your hair...or lack of it.

Causes for stress often include depression, grief and inability to adapt to change. If stress is not eliminated, it will start to have major effects on your body and its reactions, which will be particularly noticeable in your hair - due to the imbalance of your body.

When stress takes over your body, it changes your hormone levels and the balance of your body. Your body may generate excess hormones to resolve this imbalance.

But sometimes these hormones make their way to your scalp which causes your hair to fall out. This is often noticeable after two to four months of continued or recurring stress.

Hair loss is recognisable by bald spots, an excessive amount of hair falling out (more than the average 100 hairs per day) and thinner hair.

If you want to quickly stop your hair from falling out, there are lots of thing you can do. First and foremost, stopping the cause of the stress will cause your body to balance its hormone and nutrient levels to stop all of your hair from falling out and begin growing back.

A variety of techniques for relaxing yourself is one of the easiest and most effective ways to treat hair loss.

Daily problems and stress levels can be diminished through regular meditation.

Dietary habits and regular exercise also make an impact on stress levels and monitoring these habits will help. If the stress is caused by other problems such as external or a life-changing situation, a change of scene or even just a quiet room to relax in can help you make it through the problem.

If these steps are taken, your body will begin to balance again and your hair will start to grow back.

The only way to have a chance in preventing hair loss is to find out what is causing the problem in the first place.

Stress is definitely one of the major causes of hair loss.

If something stressful has happened to you and is making you worried, then you should find a way of taking care of yourself and your needs. A visit to your family doctor may be a good place to start.

Your hair shows how balanced you are and whether you are looking after yourself properly. Loss and thinning of your hair can be resolved with appropriate help or an adjustment to your lifestyle.
