Stress Relief Tips that WILL Work!
Unfortunately everyone is stressed at some stage or another so we are going to give you some
helpful and easy to follow stress relief tips.
Unfortunately not everyone knows how to deal with emotional stress.
Some people do a marvellous job at coping with stress and wonder what the fuss is all about.
But people with attitudes like this don’t usually get as stressed as everyone else.
It is often said mental stress can lead to illness.
This is quite possibly true because often when we are stressed we don’t sleep as well, might eat
too much or too little and not get enough exercise which could bring down our immune systems.
No one is impervious to stress but there are ways we can manage it, which is very
important. So when you are talking to your doctor or a psychologist, it might help to remember they can be
stressed too.
But the difference is medical professionals learn to deal with stress.
They look after patients all day, everyday. It must be hard. So how do they cope with
it?
Stress relief can be managed in numerous different ways. Following are a few of the more
basic stress relief techniques:
Look after you diet. Make sure it includes all the vitamins and minerals you need to keep
healthy. Try to avoid (or at least reduce) alcohol and caffeine or if you are really having trouble, cut
these out of your intake altogether. You will be more relaxed and revitalized!
A healthy diet and exercise go hand in hand so try to get out there at least 3 times a week and go
for a walk, a swim or a pushbike ride. Dancing is also very beneficial and has the added bonus of being
fun! This helps use up the energy we have built up whilst being stress. It is a fantastic way to
vent!
Try it……your physical being will feel much better which in turn makes it easier to be bothered
about doing everyday things!
Make sure you get enough sleep each night, otherwise your body will find it hard
to function properly, let alone deal with stressful situations! Waking up feeling like you have slept enough
and well great for an energy and morale boost at the start of the day!
People find they feel the best when they wake up naturally before their alarm starts ringing!
If this happens to you, it is usually a sign of having a very healthy amount of sleep. With
this, you will be able to cope with the stress for the day much better.
If you are working long days, or trying to fit a lot into one day, it is very important to take a
break every so often. Everyone is different with how long they can concentrate for but you’ll find if you
have a break when you feel like you need it (rather than plugging on regardless), you will be a lot better at what
you are trying to do and much more relaxed.
Now don’t worry if you are feeling a little stress – sometimes a little stress can be good to help
keep us on our toes and performing to our best standard. But if you are feeling overly stressed and having
trouble handling everything, you might be doing some damage to your mind and body….the early signs of burnout.
Usually the first sign of being too stressed is extreme fatigue.
This is mostly avoidable with frequent, scheduled breaks. At the start of the day decide when
you are going to take a break and stick to it. If we do not do this and ignore our bodies crying out for a
rest from the constant working, you will end up in a much worse situation.
You could have a breakdown which usually happens in the wrong place at the wrong time or you could
feel completely exhausted so by the time you get home all you want to do is sleep or you could start getting
sick.
We hope these stress relief tips are of some help to you.
So finally, if you are stressed, try to listen to your body and look after it.
Trial and error is usually the way people learn how to deal with their own problems. Or you
could talk to someone who is experienced or trained in stress relief management.
