Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening
Try These Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening remedies you can apply at home have been around for as long as we’ve had mirrors and been
kissing each other.
To be honest, some concoctions work well while others just don’t.
Most will whiten our teeth to some degree in the short term using ingredients most of us will already have in
our kitchen pantry at home such as baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, and salt.
Many teeth whitening processes involve rubbing your teeth with abrasive materials, but too much rubbing should
be avoid as it will damage the top layer of your tooth enamel exposing the dentine layer.
This is harmful to your teeth as well as making your teeth look grey and dull.
Always use a soft bristle brush when applying any home made teeth whitening remedies.
Some Home Remedies for Teeth Whitening You Can Try:
Tried and True
Crushed strawberries rubbed on your front teeth before brushing. Tastes good too!!
The oldest tradition
Mix a capful of Lemon Juice with three small teaspoons of Table Salt in a cup then dip your toothbrush in and
gently rub till your teeth are clean. Afterwards rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth thoroughly
with toothpaste as the acids can actually cause tooth staining if left on your teeth. Do this once every second day
for up to 5 times.
Cheap and Reliable
Mix a teaspoon of baking soda with cold water then gently rub the mixture over teeth with a soft brush. To
remove stubborn stains like coffee or nicotine leave the baking soda sit for a couple of minutes, then rinse mouth
with clean water.
Cheap and Nasty but Highly Effective
Dip a soft toothbrush in vinegar and brush gently. Don’t overdo the vinegar around your gums as the acid can
burn and even cause blisters. Always rinse well with water after. Try dipping floss in vinegar before flossing to
give the spaces between your teeth a really good clean.
Natural Potion
A paste made with a little vinegar and baking soda works great on cleaning stains from front teeth. Using
your finger, gently rub up and down and side to side then rinse well by swishing water around in your mouth.
Dangerous Don’t Do’s
Don’t brush or even rinse your teeth with hydrogen peroxide. While it might whiten your teeth, the peroxide will
do serious damage to your gums as well as the lining of your mouth.
You also need to be aware that there is a great deal of different between the concentration of hydrogen peroxide
in the usual household type bleaches and the approved tooth whitening products.
In summary when using any of these natural home remedies for teeth whitening it is important to remember to be
patient as it may take several weeks to see the results of your efforts.
