Laser Bleaching
Laser Bleaching: A Teeth Whitening Treatment
It’s a fact that laser teeth whitening is the most expensive of all the possible treatments for removing stains
on the teeth…..but it is relatively quick, painless and promises great results.
For these reasons many people who choose this option say the results are well worth the expense.
So if cost is an important consideration to you then it is best to ask for a written quote before receiving
treatment…..you don’t want any nasty surprises after the job is done.
Laser bleaching is a relatively new technique which is approved by the FDA but as yet has not gained official
approval from the American Dental Association.
There have been some concerns about laser whitening making teeth more sensitive to cold after the treatment but
mostly this extra sensitivity is usually only temporary and should disappear within a short time.
Also some people experience gum irritation and discoloration, after treatment but this too should subside after
a day or two.
If you do decide laser whitening is for you, the treatment will only take about an hour of your time in
the dentist chair.
The first step in the procedure is for the dentist to place a shield of some form over your gums for protection.
After this a paste or gel of bleaching agent will be applied to your teeth.
Once these tasks are completed the laser whitening treatment will begin with a special light being shone onto
the teeth.
This light is designed to speed up the chemical reaction that is the breakdown of the carbamide or hydrogen
peroxide, thus making more oxygen enter into the enamel.
The laser is pointed at a few teeth at a time and for a limited amount of time per tooth. Usually, a laser
whitening procedure can make your teeth five to six shades whiter than the bleaching treatment alone can.
The good news is the result of laser bleaching teeth can last up to three years or more depending on whether you
smoke, drink red wine and coffee or eat or drink other things which heavily stain your teeth.
